OLIVIA LAPOINTE

Canadian soprano Olivia LaPointe has been praised for the distinctive beauty of her warm, lyrical voice, natural musicality, and expressive artistry. Equally at home in opera, musical theatre, jazz, and contemporary styles, she has trained with many of North America’s foremost performers and instructors.
Most recently, Olivia was named a Colorado-Wyoming District Winner and received the Merle C. Chambers Award at the 2025 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. She was also a finalist in the 2025 Lotte Lenya Competition and the Third Prize Winner in the 2024 Canadian Opera Company Centre Stage: Ensemble Studio Competition.

Her operatic roles include Donna Anna in Don Giovanni (Varna International Music Academy), Angelica in Orlando and Giulietta in Un giorno di regno (Opera McGill), Lily in The Secret Garden (Opera NUOVA), and Antonia in Les contes d'Hoffmann (Halifax Summer Opera Festival). Of her portrayal of Antonia, Opera Canada wrote: “Olivia LaPointe, as the ill-fated singer Antonia, was breathtakingly perfect. Her duet with Hoffmann, 'C’est une chanson d’amour,' was one of the production's most magical musical highlights.”

As a featured artist with Varna International Music Academy in 2024, Olivia toured Italy, performing in Rome, Vicenza, and Asiago. She sang the role of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni under the baton of Maestro Gregory Buchalter, was a soloist in multiple musical theatre and Italian art song concerts, and performed in the Festival Chorus for Verdi’s Requiem. In 2023, she made her European debut as a Voice Fellow with Opernfest Prague, where she performed with the Prague Symphony Orchestra in the historic Smetana Hall.

Beyond the operatic stage, Olivia is deeply engaged in church music and worship leadership. She is currently the Worship Arts Assistant, Choir School Instructor, Worship Leader, and Choir Section Lead at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church (TEMC) in Toronto, Ontario. Previously, she held similar roles at Journey Church Fredericton in New Brunswick, where she started and directed the JRNY Kids Choir and founded Let’s Sing! Music & Arts Summer Camps from 2021–2023.

Olivia has extensive experience in studio recording and performing with her family’s group, The LaPointes. Their most recent album is Christmas Together, featuring The Jolly Jazz Band. As an educator, she is passionate about nurturing the next generation of singers and maintains a thriving voice studio in person and online.
Olivia holds a Master of Music in Opera and Voice from McGill University’s Schulich School of Music, where she studied with Dominique Labelle, and a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance with Honours from the University of Toronto, where she trained with Frédérique Vézina.
